EAA Aviation Center
Oshkosh WI

4:30 PM Annual Membership Meeting
5:00 PM Board of Directors Meeting
5:30 PM Social Hour
6:30 PM Dinner and Ceremony

The Saturday date and schedule, as outlined above, has become a successful combination for the ceremony. After completing the meetings of the growing organization it was time for mingling with members, guests, and friends. The more than 110 folks in attendance enjoyed the camaraderie and pastoral scenes of the Pioneer Airport in all its fall spender.

Another common among recent ceremonies is that of master of ceremonies. David Duax of Eau Claire again took on this role and added a star to the effort. His wife, Kathryn Duax, an accomplished singer opened the evening's festivities with our national anthem. Thanks go to Dave for suggesting that Kathryn sing and our most sincere thanks to Kathryn for the best performance of the anthem heard in a long time.

Dinner was followed by a short introduction of the Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame (WAHF), its missions, and its goals by Dave Duax. R. C. "Bud" Jensen, Chairman of the Wisconsin Council on Aeronautics, provided comments regarding the continuing effort at writing a book on Wisconsin's aviation history. Bob Kunkel, Director of the Wisconsin Bureau of Aeronautics, praised the organization, its officers, and directors for their continued efforts at recognizing those who made aviation history in Wisconsin, the United States, and the world.

Chuck Marotske, WAHF director, introduced Warren Balser. Carl Guell, WAHF Secretary and Treasurer, shared the story of his flight school roommate Robert Jones. Air Line Pilots Association Vice President W. John Donnelly provided the history of David Behncke. Each inductee or family representative provided a brief response regarding their history and induction. Keynote speaker for the evening was Dr. George E. Hopkins from Western Illinois University.

On hand to welcome these newest members into the hall of fame were past inductees Carl Guell (1990), George Hardie (1991), William Lotzer (1991), Howard Morey (1987), Steve Wittman (1986), and Fritz Wolf (1989). There are now 25 aviators inducted into the Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame.
